EMERALD LAKE COUNTRY CLUB - RULES 2024

In order to make Emerald Lake and the facilities as safe and enjoyable as possible, members and their guests must abide by the rules. Any person using the Lake and facilities should be aware that swimming and using certain equipment on the premises are dangerous activities.

EMERALD LAKE COUNTRY CLUB WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THE PROPERTY OR ANY OF ITS FACILITIES.

SAFETY

1)  Swimming is only permitted when a contracted ELCC lifeguard is present.

2)  Parents/guardians are responsible for the safety and well-being of their children while using the Lake. Lifeguards are not babysitters. Swimming is only allowed when ELCC lifeguards are on duty.

3)  Lifeguards will require swimming tests of ALL members and guests between the ages of 7 and 18 years of age each season before permitting access to the deep water area. No one under 7 years old is allowed to swim in the outer/deep water area. Please be aware that the shallower area closer to the beach is still over the heads of most children.

4)  All swimmers not passing the swim test must remain in the shallower area and adjacent beach at all times. They are not allowed near the diving board and high dive or areas past this zone. The swim test list starts over each summer, and every swimmer under 18 must pass it again to ensure they are deep-water safe.

5)  Children 4 and under must wear a lifejacket in the shallower area of the Lake, both when in the water and when playing near it (i.e., on the concrete path), and whether or not they are in an adult's arms. Lifeguards may require any child, regardless of age, to wear a life jacket if they are deemed unsafe or unsupervised. Non-swimmers or those not wearing a life jacket must always be accompanied by another competent swimmer.

6)  Swimming is not permitted outside the area defined by the ropes joining the small anchored rafts. Sitting, standing or pulling on the ropes or interfering with the rafts and their moorings is prohibited.

7)  Only adults are allowed on the adult beach (located near the men’s bathroom). Swimming off the adult beach is not permitted because lifeguards have limited visibility.

8)  Crowding on the diving board, diving tower, slide and rafts is not permitted. No rowdy or dangerous conduct is permitted. The slide must be used properly (no knee sliding). Only one person on the slide and ladder at a time.

9)  Extra-large inflatables are not allowed on the Lake. All toys and inflatables must be approved for use by the lifeguards.

10)  No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be permitted upon the premises. Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are prohibited during swimming hours.

11)  During swimming hours, the lifeguards on duty are in complete charge of the Lake and facilities and have full authority to enforce the rules. If you cannot follow the rules, you will be asked to leave and you could have your membership revoked.

MEMBERS, GUESTS, ACTIVITIES AND PARTIES

12)  Lake facilities are open to members and invited guests only and it is the responsibility of the member to ensure guests are aware of and abide by the rules.

13)  All members and their guests must sign in at the guard shack upon entering during swimming hours.

If the member plans on having more than 10 guests then the Active/Associate must get approval for a private party with the social chair and submit the party application. The Party application and all fees must be completed and approved by the Social Chair and paid 14 days before the party or event. No private parties are allowed during swimming hours. Additional rules for parties are in the party application. Please contact the social chair for more info.

Summer Members:

18)  Summer members have access to the Lake during swim hours only.

19)  Summer Members may have up to 5 guests per visit - entrance fee of $5 per guest, payable to the lifeguard via cash or PayPal. (Multi-visit punch cards can also be purchased from the Lifeguards.) Boat rides are $5/ride. Again payable to the lifeguards. Summer members are not allowed to host private parties.

OTHER

20)  Leave your place on the beach as you found it. Please clean up and fill in any holes that your child may have made on the beach. Please avoid having your children make big rivers that end up flushing sand into the lake.

21)  No fishing allowed during the swim season (before, during, and after swim hours).

22)  No smoking inside Lake property.

23)  Bonfires are forbidden unless approved by the Board President or Social Chair.
